America May Not Yet Be Ready To Elect A Black President
A neat article in the Times online about the race to the White House and the author's conclusion that America may not yet be ready to elect a black President adding that "it's politically incorrect, but race matters".

The author's conclusion seems to be a bit simplistic especially that it's not considering two major factors in his founding arguments:
first, there a difference between the primaries and the general election: if a democrat voter does not vote to Obama this time (by the way the 16% mentioned in the article almost equal the voters who are going to stay home if Hillary is going to be the nominee) it does not mean he's not going to do it in a totally different context (i.e. a general election against McSame)... and white "blue collar" voters were essential in promoting Obama in other states in the midwest (only lately Obama is winning an overwhelming Black vote)...
Second, Obama is bringing to the Democrats unprecedented numbers of white "blue collar" voters from the Republican side and registered independents to the Democrats side (by the way he did it even in Pennsylvania)... Obviously this does not mean that Obama is certainly going to win in November, still he's not going to loose in the obvious manner this author is pretending...
@Tarek: I agree with what you said but let's admit it 'race still matters in USA' we like or not,and my forcast is that at the end we will have McCain vs Clinton and voters will finally choose unwillingly McCain because they have no alternative unless McCain disappears naturally ;). Let's wait and see...
