Remembering Our Martyrs

Today Tunisia commemorates the 68th anniversary of the events of April 9, 1938 which constituted a decisive and turning point in the history of national liberation movement and the struggle for Independence. Tunisians went into the streets demanding "Barlaman Tounsi!, Barlaman Tounsi!" ("A Tunisian Parliament!, A Tunisian Parliament!").Many innocent people were killed and others were arrested during fierce confrontations with the French colonial forces.
